Success Story Corner

Working late hours constantly and managing my career along with it was hindering my personal life. Taking regular classes only added to my problems.

It was then that the Life Experience Degree concept came as a revelation for me. I never knew that all the hard work could be transferred into course credits and I could actually earn a degree based on that.

I’m really glad that I went for it.

Is a certain life experience university genuine?

Through a Google search one may find some tremendously low cost college or seminary that offers life experience degrees or other academic credentials with nominal effort and they want to know if the institute is genuine.

Below listed are a few tips for you to follow when deciding on a life experience university:

  • Learn about Accreditation: Pursuing a degree is an important investment of time and money and accreditation affects how that degree will be received in the marketplace. Take a few minutes to review some FAQs about Accreditation. You'll find the names of the legitimate accrediting agencies, searchable databases of schools, and other useful information about institutional quality. The more you know about legitimate schools, the less likely you are to be duped by questionable ones.
  • Request for information or university brochure: It is always a good idea to thoroughly familiarize yourself to the guide/brochure of the university you are interested to earn your life degree from. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact a consultant at the university.
  • Be well-informed before enrolling in an online degree program: Regardless of which institution you choose, this site assists you. Please note that we do not label schools as degree mills or diploma mills, we do not say that accreditation is the only appraisal of quality education, neither do we say that all unaccredited schools are sub-standard. However, it's sensible to stick with accurately accredited schools to ensure that your degree is recognized in the job market.

The internet is crowded with information offering the opportunity to earn an undergraduate or graduate degree based on life experience with minimal effort and incredibly fast pace.

  • One receives an email message that offers them the opportunity to quickly earn a "renowned" degree based on life experience. Call the phone number provided on the site and all you will get is an IVR. Such spam is pretty obvious to spot and hopefully you simply delete those messages.

  • But what about more sophisticated web sites that promise college degrees based on life experience? Perhaps they ask for copies of transcripts, test scores, job reports, or personal narratives and instantly for your credit card and then the rest is history!

  • Beware of the emails promoting fraud institutions. If someone offers you an MBA or Ph.D. degree based on life experience without asking for proper credentials!. That should be the signal.

See why life experience degrees are genuine?

Yes, life experience degrees are genuine. Especially on an undergraduate level, you can earn an entire associates or bachelors degree through a demonstration of prior learning. Demonstrating prior learning typically involves using transfer credits, credit by examination, or portfolio development and evaluation. Note that prior learning assessment is a more formal procedure than the so-called credit for life experience and is recognized as a genuine means of granting credit. If you can demonstrate that you have learned something equivalent to content taught in a college course, then you can earn college credits and apply them an undergraduate degree.
